Namesco is the only company in the group to offer “Internet Connectivity via ADSL / SDSL” to its customers, as such the focus over last year and half has been on other products and services we offer. This lead to decrease in Broadband Customer Base and revenues.

Over last 6 months we have been looking at different options to ensure we reduce our cost base and increase revenues on Broadband.

In May, we signed an agreement with Maxima / HotChilli Internet, enabling us to provide new Broadband Products and Services to our customers. This agreement allows us to reduce our costs and enables us to use their existing infrastructure to offer our customers ADSL2+ type services, such as 24 Mbps connection.

We have been working closely with Maxima / HotChilli Internet, to ensure that we could move over to their systems as quickly as possible, without having to do a lot of development work on our end.

I am pleased to inform you all that as of 10am yesterday, we moved over to using Maxima / HotChilli’s system and all new orders are being provided on their network / infrastructure.

Our current supplier BT will work with Maxima / HotChilli Internet to novate all services over to Maxima’s / HotChilli. The novation will allow us to offer our existing customers upgrade paths to 24Mbps service.

Our Product Marketing team are working on refreshing our Broadband products and services, so that we can start to retain our customers and also market our new offering to increase our customer base and revenues. The refresh should complete by next month.

Maxima / HotChilli are also providing Broadband support to our customers and this was switched over yesterday around 10am, allowing the Worcester Customer Care team to concentrate on providing World Class Customer Support to its shared hosting customers. Namesco IVR for Customer Care has been reconfigured so that the customer has various options to choose from, ensuring they get through to the correct person that can assist with First Time Resolution.

As Broadband Support is now being provided by Maxima/HotChilli, this allows us to try new support services, like Live Chat and paid Call back service to our customers, please keep an eye on the blog for future posting on Live Chat Service.

Thank you to everyone involved in this project. If any one has any questions, please email me cpatel@names.co.uk.

The 2010 ISPA Awards were held on the evening of Thursday 8th July 2010. Namesco were nominated for the following awards:

• Best Shared Hosting
• Best Dedicated Hosting

It was a black tie event and following colleagues from Dada.pro attend the event, representing Namesco / Dada.

Chirag Patel
Marco Chiaverini
Stefano Sordi
Richard Semmens
Massimo Bandinelli
Michael Follett
Marcus Don
Eric Sansonny
Caroline Copeman
Sarah Bratchell

The prestigious annual awards ceremony focused this year on the Digital Economy Bill and speakers included Leigh Smyth, Race Online 2012 who talked about making the UK one of the first countries to establish a completely online, internet-enabled society in the World.

Bob Mills, British Comedian provided entertainment for the night and I must say that in the years I have been attending these awards, this was probably the only time where I thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment provided by Bob Mills.

First award of the evening was for “Best Shared Hosting” presented by Feargal Sharkey, musician and CEO of British Music Rights. He read out the names of the 5 finalists for this award, as you can imagine when he announced Namesco, there was a loud roar and in true Grammy awards style, he opened up the Gold envelope and the winner is “Namesco”. He went on to say that the judges were “impressed with Namesco’s high level of customer satisfaction, with good use of security and technical support complemented by a clear pricing structure.”

Richard and I went up to collect the award, I was very surprised to win this prestigious award for the 3rd year Running. I gave a small speech “Thanking all the teams for the hard work they put in and how proud we were”, as I walked off the stage, I could not resist the temptation, so went back to the podium and shouted out “Hatrick, three years running”.

The second award of the evening was for “Best Dedicated Hosting”, Namesco were one of the 5 finalists (Exa Networks, Fluidata Ltd, Namesco Limited, NewNet plc, Tagadab Ltd), the winner was “NewNet plc”. In an extremely competitive category, the judges decided “NewNet’s wide product range, provision of 24/7 technical support and a dedicated account manager set them apart from their competitors.”

Jane Fae Ozimek from “TheRegister” was present at the awards and said this about Namesco in the ISPA article: “For the rest, Namesco took the award for Best Shared Hosting for the third year in a row, were an event which led to much late-night carousing and the downing of several bottles of champagne.”

The other awards on the night were:

Best Customer Services – Claranet
Best Business Fixed Broadband – Claranet
Best Consumer Broadband – BE Broadband
Best Dedicated Hosting – NewNet
Best Internet Telephony – Gradwell
Best Mobile Broadband – FREEDOM4 WiFi
Best Consumer Customer Service – Plusnet
Access Innovation – Cybermoor (with a special commendation for South West)
Internet Safety – Childnet International
Best Digital Inclusion – Bolton Literacy Trust
The Corporate Social Responsibility Award – Orange

The ISPA Awards take place every year and are a good measure of the Industry’s achievements over the past year as well as an insight in what’s to come in the near future. Namesco were in good company with some of the other winners of the night including Orange, Plusnet, Childnet and Lord Mandelson.

Well done to every one at Namesco and to the group, next year we aim to win the “Best Dedicated Hosting” along with the “Best Shared Hosting” and either “Broadband” or “Customer Services” awards.
