Opening of the new Inspira(c)tionBoard exhibition in Florence

Inspira(c)tionBoard Event

ENGLISH VERSION FOLLOWS

Translated by Sarah Bulli  (sorry  I know this is no literal translation, but … both the board and the idea INSPIRED me to be a little more …erm…crative? :) )

A container of ideas, an inspiration box, a mash and mix of creativeness … call it what you prefer, but don’t forget that today, if you have an idea, you can go upstairs and literally stick it to the new Inspira(c)tionBoard to let others see  your inspiration source and to share, mix and mash it with everyone else’s ideas, thoughts, feelings and inspirations.

What is more creative and inspirational than a multiple-hand-created painting? Can there really be anything more inspira(c)tional than this creative alliance, a framed board hanging there and ready to be overloaded with  ideas?

If you think there isn’t, then be part of it! Our Inspira©tion board will be there for an entire month, at the end of which…it will be  started over again!

Have you surfed our brand new interface yet?

As you will have noticed, the navigation menu of our continental stores has recently been renovated. We have asked Giuseppe Scappaticcio of the UI&Content department, who has been deeply involved in the project, a few questions about the why and how of this revision.

What is the most important new feature that has been introduced into the navigation bar?

First of all, the navigation bar has been revamped in order to optimise the hierarchy of the menu options and to make the best use of space. The most important thing though, has been the introduction of the big drop down bar; thanks to this new feature, it is now possible to access internal pages more quickly and easily and with no need for any intermediate clicks and steps. Unlike traditional dropdown menus, all the links on the page are visible at first sight and there is no longer the need to explore the entire menu to find the desired page. This of course helps our users find what they are looking for much easier than before.

What are the major advantages of this new structure?

From a graphic point of view especially, the new space organisation has allowed the introduction of headings and graphic elements that make all the information presented on the page much more immediate and accessible. The use of specific graphic elements also facilitates and improves communication of additional information, such as new promotions and offers.  Along with this, the use of product images strongly supports our brand identity and makes our image much more recognisable in general. The use of graphic elements also reduces the user’s cognitive effort when browsing our stores: there is no need to remember where to find what, with observation of images rather than links alone, being sufficient to find what is needed straight away.

Has the new navigation menu impacted upon marketing too?

It certainly has. The advantages in terms of marketing are self-evident. First of all, by making products and services more accessible, that is by making the way to reach them significantly shorter and more intuitive, we are implicitly helping our customers find what they need more quickly and easily. Secondly, this new navigation structure also allows us to launch a wider range of upselling options and cross- selling promotions. We are still collecting data about this last aspect but we will soon have some specific data to release and show you.

So, if you haven’t had a proper look at the new navigation menu yet, you are more than welcome to take a tour and let us know what  you think of it.

BTW, below a little preview and here the links to go surf it live now! Register.it, Nominalia, Amen France, Portugal, Netherland.

Be creative!

Here’s a new video for you!

It’s not bad, is it?
Do you agree with what he says?

Check out the new Register.it Facebook profile!

Hi there,

I am glad to announce that our Facebook profile has been recently updated and improved with a new and cool layout and offer.

Have a look here and let us know if you really like it

Before clicking on like, hang on a sec and have a closer look at the new landing tab, that is the landing page that we have created for all  FB users who come check out our profile.

The offer it focuses on is only valid for users who will click the  like button. By clicking it, they will receive a large discount on .me domains ( should you need a .me domain, here’s a good chance to get a reduction :) )

The other important update about this page is the introduction of a real WHOIS bar right on the page. Users who get to click the like button will also have the chance to check the desired .me domain availability directly on the page. No need to leave FB to go and see if the name is still available. Handy, uh?

The code we used for it is  called FBML, it’s a kind of  HTML used by Facebook. I reckon the final result is pretty good and this is a very handy way to start introducing promotions directly on FB with no need to go through our website or landing pages.

How we  did it? It was not exactly easy, but we made it in the end…basically we had to translate the HTML of a standard landing page into  an FBML code .. and we ended up with a standard landing page that is supported by a different code. It took a bit, but the result is fine.

I would like to thank everyone who was involved in this project, that is all members of the  ADV Designer ,CA Marketing  and Content  departments.

I hope you like and would love to get your feedback

Cheers
